That means the site/blog needs to be placed decently in the rankings or else it will never live up to its potential. 1) Build as many relevant links on the internet as possible. Relevant links count as votes towards the popularity of the website. The key here is the links that need to be relevant to count the most. That is, they need to share a similar content to your site/blog. Placing links on such sites will boost the rankings of the sites/blogs in the rankings. 

2) Submitting the URL of the site/blogs to as many web directories as possible is certainly recommended. Web directories are basically venues where people can look for websites under a particular category. For example, someone looking for websites on baseball can look under the sports category of a website directory and then look for various baseball sites.

 3) Also, the links placed on a web directory will be indexed by the search engine robots as well. This means that in addition to the direct traffic that will be acquired by the links, these links will add in boosting the site’s placement in the search engines as well.

 4) The design of your website also aids in the placement in the search engines. Including relevant keywords into the text of your website is of the utmost importance. Relevant keywords are words and phrases that are common search terms for the subject matter of your site. If you are unsure of the proper relevant keywords, there is low cost research services that can provide the top searched for terms in the top search engines. It also is helpful to include keywords into the metatag codes of the site. If you are unsure how to do this, simple ask your website host as to the proper process. Usually, the steps are relatively simple. Who knows? The host may even do it for you.

 5) It is also a good idea to include a comprehensive site index on the homepage of your website. For those not familiar with what a site index is, it is a listing of links to the subpages on your website. This way, when the search engine robots crawl your homepage, they will easily find - and index - your subpages. This will increase opportunities to acquire organic traffic.

 While it is not easy to gain a great deal of traffic, it is no where near as tough as people assume. A little basic effort is all that is needed to boost rankings and increase traffic to the site.
